SHINEEEEE!

Some of you might know this, but i thought i'd alert those of us who aren't author-stalkers.
So, Jennifer Armentrout (Half Blood) has announced she has a new book coming out, Obsidian. It's part of a new series from Entangled Publishing, and sounds AMAZEBALLS. (Also, it's coming out december THIS YEAR, so we don't even have to wait that long!)

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

How awesome does that sound? A hot guy who's an alien, space wars...how can it get any better?

Now, i loved Jennifer's Half Blood, so i can already say with absolute confidence that this will be amazing. I'm planning to buy it as soon as it releases (december 6), and all of you should too. Until then, i will just have to patient and blow my book budget even more.

Have fun,
Imo <l:)>

On Writing - Help

I'm going to let you guys in on a secret, well, something that nobody knows about me. You ready?
I write.

Yep, that's it, i write books.
Now, i am unpublished, and to be honest, i don't think i'll ever get into the published author club.
Not because i'm so terrible (which i probably am) but i'm terrified of letting anyone else of reading what i've written. It's kind of like they're being handed a cross section of my brain, free access to all my thoughts, ideas, secret desires... and i just don't want them to laugh at me or tell me it absolutely SUCKED.
Okay, so i may be slightly afraid of criticism, but i can take that, it's just that i don't think i want anyone that i actually KNOW to be able to see these things. Like, you hear most authors let their husband/wife/bf/gf be the first to read their finished manuscipt, i would rather DIE than let my boyfriend read any of my stories. Not that i don't trust him, i do. But as a member of the young-male club, sometimes he can be slightly...well, any female will know what i mean :D

So i decided to find some of those websites, where the community are all writers and can post, read, and give feedback on work. Within only a few days of posting my first few chapters (which was a HUGE step for me) i got some critical feedback from others. There were a lot of nice comments in there, but also some really helpful stuff i could, and did use.

So, to anyone who feels like me, a.k.a. worried about being rejected, i would absolutely recommend the online community. It gives you a huge boost in your writing ego, but also in your skills and ideas as a writer, whether published and unpublished.

And who knows? Maybe one day (in probably fifty years) you'll see my name on the shiny cover of a new release, and there'll be thousands of people reading my words, reviewing them.
But for now, it's one step at a time, and if i get there, i get there.

Omnom Out,
Imo <l:)>

The Other Life Giveaway

Yeah, i know i only posted about...ten minutes ago, but i just found out about an awesome contest to win an ARC of The Other Life by Susanne Winnacker.

Sherry and her family have lived sealed in a bunker in the garden since things went wrong up above. Her grandfather has been in the freezer for the last three months, her parents are at each other’s throats and two minutes ago they ran out of food.
Sherry and her father leave the safety of the bunker and find a devastated and empty LA, smashed to pieces by bombs and haunted by ‘Weepers’ - rabid humans infected with a weaponized rabies virus.
While searching for food in a supermarket, Sherry’s father disappears and Sherry is saved by Joshua, a boy-hunter. He takes her to Safe-haven, a tumble-down vineyard in the hills outside LA, where a handful of other survivors are picking up the pieces of their ‘other lives’. As she falls in love for the first time, Sherry must save her father, stay alive and keep Joshua safe when his desire for vengeance threatens them all

Doesn't it sound amazeballs you guys? So get over there and enter, all you have to do is leave a comment and it's an oppurtunity you won't want to miss :D

Gorgeous, right? This is definitely one of my favourite upcoming reads for 2012, which right now seems a million miles away :(

Also, major congrats goes to Margeret Stohl and Kami Garcia (Beautiful Creatures) who have both sold the rights for idependents projects. Good work, ladies!
But the biggest new book announcement goes to Mary Lindsey, author of the upcoming Shattered Souls, who has sold another book entitled Annabel.

SHATTERED SOULS author Mary Lindsey's ANNABEL, pitched as a dark retelling of Poe's final poem Annabel Lee, pitting a pair of star-crossed lovers in a doomed struggle with forces of ancient malice and evil, again to Jill Santopolo at Philomel, by Ammi-Joan Paquette at Erin Murphy Literary Agency (World).

Again, high fives to these wonderful authors and we look forward to seeing your books on the shelves soon.
Have an awesome week, my lovelies,
Imo <l:)> (dumbledore!)
