Waiting On A Wednesday

Waiting on a Wednesday is a meme where blogs can share the upcoming releases that they're dying to read. This week, i'm going to share one of this my most anticipated debuts for this year.

The Nightmare Affair
The Nightmare Affair - Mindee Arnett
Publication - March 5th 2013 by Tor Teen

Literally.

Being the only Nightmare at Arkwell Academy, a boarding school for magickind, and living in the shadow of her mother’s infamy, is hard enough. But when Dusty sneaks into Eli Booker’s house, things get a whole lot more complicated. He’s hot, which means sitting on his chest and invading his dreams couldn’t get much more embarrassing. But it does. Eli is dreaming of a murder.

Then Eli’s dream comes true.

Now Dusty has to follow the clues—both within Eli’s dreams and out of them—to stop the killer before more people turn up dead. And before the killer learns what she’s up to and marks her as the next target

Looks amazing doesn't it?

Have a great day,

Waiting on a Wednesday

Hey peeps,

WoW is a thing held by Jill over at Breaking the Spine where we all post about books we can't wait to be released. Because it's October and Halloween is fast approaching, i thought i'd suggest some slightly...creepy ones.

Dearly, Departed
TITLE: Dearly Departed
AUTHOR: Lia Habel
RELEASE: October 18th
The year is 2195. The place is New Victoria—a high-tech nation modeled on the manners, mores, and fashions of an antique era. A teenager in high society, Nora Dearly is far more interested in military history and her country’s political unrest than in tea parties and debutante balls. But after her beloved parents die, Nora is left at the mercy of her domineering aunt, a social-climbing spendthrift who has squandered the family fortune, and now plans to marry her niece off for money. For Nora, no fate could be more horrible—until she’s nearly kidnapped by an army of walking corpses.

But fate is just getting started with Nora. Catapulted from her world of drawing-room civility, she’s suddenly gunning down ravenous zombies alongside mysterious black-clad commandos and confronting “The Laz,” a fatal virus that raises the dead—and hell along with them. Hardly ideal circumstances. Then Nora meets Bram Griswold, a young soldier who is brave, handsome, noble . . . and dead. But as is the case with the rest of his special undead unit, luck and modern science have enabled Bram to hold on to his mind, his manners, and his body parts. And when his bond of trust with Nora turns to tenderness, there’s no turning back. Eventually, they know, the disease will win, separating the star-crossed lovers forever. But until then, beating or not, their hearts will have what they desire.

Swear (Swoon, #2)
TITLE: Swear (Swoon #2)
AUTHOR: Nina Malkin
RELEASE: October 18th
It’s been six months since ghost-turned golem Sinclair Youngblood Powers confessed his love, stole Dice's heart, and disappeared from Swoon, perhaps from existence. Despite the hurt, Dice has been moving steadily toward ordinary. Dreams of Sin still plague and pleasure her sleep, and the mark of Sin's love remains on her skin, still sore. But Dice has been throwing herself into music, finding solace in song and sometimes even in the arms of her band mate, Tosh. Life seems almost…normal. The last thing Dice wants is to mess with anything remotely supernatural.
But when her best friend’s boyfriend goes missing, Dice has no choice but to become very much involved. She knows that his disappearance was no accident, and it somehow has everything to do with Sin. Because Dice can feel it: Sin is back. And the promises and deceptions he left in his wake have returned to haunt him.

So, don't they sound amazing? Plus, they come out just before the big day! Please leave a comment if you have any other ideas, i always love hearing about new books and finding things to pine for!

LOOK OUT FOR...

Guys, this is going to be quick because i don't have much time. I thought i'd just post about a book that i can't wait for in 2012, and i wanted to share the awesomeness with you too!

Enchanted
It isn’t easy being the rather overlooked and unhappy youngest sibling to sisters named for the other six days of the week. Sunday’s only comfort is writing stories, although what she writes has a terrible tendency to come true.

When Sunday meets an enchanted frog who asks about her stories, the two become friends. Soon that friendship deepens into something magical. One night Sunday kisses her frog goodbye and leaves, not realizing that her love has transformed him back into Rumbold, the crown prince of Arilland—and a man Sunday’s family despises.

The prince returns to his castle, intent on making Sunday fall in love with him as the man he is, not the frog he was. But Sunday is not so easy to woo. How can she feel such a strange, strong attraction for this prince she barely knows? And what twisted secrets lie hidden in his past—and hers?

How gorgeous does that sound? I love fairy tale retellings, and the cover is AMAZING! So add it to your to-read lists, or i'll hunt you down (seriously).

But what books are you guys waiting for? 2012 sounds a long way away, but it would be great to hear some books that other people want to read!
Omnom out,
Imo <l:)>

SHINEEEEE!

Some of you might know this, but i thought i'd alert those of us who aren't author-stalkers.
So, Jennifer Armentrout (Half Blood) has announced she has a new book coming out, Obsidian. It's part of a new series from Entangled Publishing, and sounds AMAZEBALLS. (Also, it's coming out december THIS YEAR, so we don't even have to wait that long!)

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

How awesome does that sound? A hot guy who's an alien, space wars...how can it get any better?

Now, i loved Jennifer's Half Blood, so i can already say with absolute confidence that this will be amazing. I'm planning to buy it as soon as it releases (december 6), and all of you should too. Until then, i will just have to patient and blow my book budget even more.

Have fun,
Imo <l:)>

Books I love - Hunting Lila

Guys, i don't get to post much about what books i love but don't write full reviews for, so i thought i'd share one with you.

I'd never really heard of Hunting Lila before, but when it showed up in my library the awesome cover and synopsis of WIN sucked me in.

17-year-old Lila has two secrets she's prepared to take to the grave. The first is that she can move things just by looking at them. The second is that she's been in love with her brother's best friend, Alex, since forever.
Or thereabouts.
After a mugging on the streets of South London goes horribly wrong and exposes her unique ability, Lila decides to run to the only people she can trust - her brother and Alex. They live in Southern California where they work for a secret organisation called The Unit, and Lila discovers that the two of them are hunting down the men who murdered her mother five years before. And that they've found them.
Trying to uncover the truth of why her mother was killed, and the real remit of The Unit, Lila becomes a pawn in a dangerous game. Struggling to keep her secrets in a world where nothing and no one is quite as they seem, Lila quickly realises that she is not alone - there are others out there just like her - people with special powers -and her mother's killer is one of them...

Hunting Lila was AMAZEBALLS, it's like a cross between X-men and The Initiative from Buffy the V slayer (Vampires, not V as in the drink, jesus!) It's full of action, romance, beastilicious powers and nail biting suspense, and i would recommend it to any YA lover who wants a decent read (which i'm guessing is all of you :D).

So go on, buy it now, you know you want to. And trust me, you won't be disappointed.
Omnom Out,
Imo <l:)>

Crusade a.k.a. POBFWBHAJFQU

When you have a book blog, you spend most of your time blogging about books you love, or books that made an impact emotionally, spiritually, or even physically. But, in real life, you don't love every book, there are some you just don't bother to finish, and then there are the rare ones, the ones you despise to the core of your very soul (WARNING: for the purposes of this post that sentence may have been exagerrated).

Today, i'm going to give you one of those books, a book i read early this year and hated so much i actually wished i had never even picked it up. It's a short review, extremely short compared to what i usually do, but i think i get the main points across.

So, without further ado, let me introduce you to Crusade by Linda Press Wulf

CrusadeRobert: Left on the steps of a church as a baby, Robert was often hungry but never stole food like the other orphans in town. Introverted and extraordinarily intelligent, he knew all the Latin prayers and hymns by heart by the time he was five years old.

Georgette: Her own mother died in childbirth, leaving Georgette with a father who, seventeen at the time, had neither experience nor aptitude as a nurturing parent, and a brother known in town as Le Fuer - The Spitfire - for his terrible temper.

Perhaps to replace something missing from their own lives, both Robert and Georgette are drawn to the news of a crusader, twelve or thirteen, no older than themselves, travelling down through France with thousands of followers - all, unbelievably, children too. Of those thousands, this is the incredible story of two
My (incredibly short) review:

My god, i absolutely HATED this book :(

The story was just so boring, and so depressing. There was no real romance between Georgette and Robert, and even i found that they moved way too fast for a couple of people who only met a few days before.

The crusade also, was not well described. Georgette was not really involved in the actual planning and constructing, she just plodded along and watched as everyone around her died.

I really wanted to give up about halfway, but the only reason i kept going is that i hate not finishing a book. If you're an avid historical fan, then it might interest you to read this account through the eyes of a bystander
For regular readers though, don't even bother, you could spend your money and time on far better things.

Stork by Wendy Delsol

Sorry this one's kinf of short guys, i'll pad it out later. I'm rocking the flu-thing right now, so i'll hope you can forgive me when i say that blogging is the last thing on my mind right now :D
Stork (Stork, #1)

TITLE: Stork

AUTHOR: Wendy Delsol

SERIES: Stork #1

PUBLISHER: Candlewick

PAGES: 355 (Hardcover)

       SYNOPSIS

Though a lot of people would probably pass over this book, it caught my eye because of it's gorgeous cover and the unusual title.
Katla LeBlanc has just moved to a new town with her mother and her mother's boyfriend. Soon after she meets the Storks, an ancient Icelandic society with a mystical purpose run by Icelandic elders, and is accepted as its newest and by far the youngest member. Inducted into the society and chosen as the prestigous second chair, a whole heap of new responsibility is dropped onto Kat's shoulders, and it doesn't help that Jack, a gorgeous boy from school, seems angry at her for no reason at all.

As the book goes on Kat learns that a mysterious new evil is stalking those around her, and that something that happened years ago but she can't remember may hold the key to finding out what is happening now.
Kat is an amazing character, i wish i was as strong as her! She seems to take everything as it comes, never giving up hope and always trying to find the best of the situation. Her relationship with Jack is suprising real, it really makes you get behind them and empathise, letting you get more engrossed in the book and the storyline.

This interesting take on the shockingly underepresented Scandinavian mythology is a burst of fresh air compared to the gazillions of YA Paranormal twilight clones. If you're looking for something a little different but which still satisfies your supernatural appetites, this is the book for you.
Stork is one of my favourite reads this month, it has fantasy, romance, and mystery, a combination that can do no wrong in my eyes.

The Shinies!

Today seems to be sharing day, in the world of publishing, as THREE authors have revealed covers and titles for their lovely books.

Kimberly Derting has finally unveiled the title, cover, and sypnosis for the third book in The Body Finder series, The Last Echo.

Cyntia Hand has released the Hallowed cover and decsription, isn't it pretty?

For months part-angel Clara Gardner trained to face the raging forest fire from her visions and rescue the alluring and mysterious Christian Prescott from the blaze. Now, torn between her increasingly complicated feelings for Christian and her love for her boyfriend, Tucker, Clara struggles to make sense of what she was supposed to do the day of the fire. And, as she is drawn further into the world of part angels and the growing conflict between White Wings and Black Wings, Clara learns of the terrifying new reality that she must face: Someone close to her will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

And the uber-nice Rae Carson has revealed the new top secret cover for The Girl of Fire and Thorns. I have to say, i liked the other one better :( which one do you prefer?

Look out for these beauties...

Guten Tag, (yes, i did German as a language, and no, i do not support the Nazis)

Today i started my exams, which is a definite NOT-SQUEE but i also scored an ARC of Half-Blood, which i am extremely excited about. I can't wait for it to arrive and will post the review as soon as i have finished it!
Because i don't have a lot of time to write a full, deep, tear jerking post like normal *snort*, i thought i'd provide you a look at some books that you might not know and are being published sometime this year.

Whilst they might not be as well publisized, they have been receiving glowing reviews and i think they sound amazing. Plus, the covers are gorgeous, and i'm a bit of a human magpie.

THE NIGHT CIRCUS by Erin Morgenstern - Publication: Sept. 13th by Doubleday
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des RĂªves, and it is only open at night.
But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead .

THE GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS by Rae Carson - Publication Sept. 20th by HarperCollins
Once a century, one person is chosen for greatness.
Elisa is the chosen one.
But she is also the younger of two princesses, the one who has never done anything remarkable. She can’t see how she ever will. Now, on her sixteenth birthday, she has become the secret wife of a handsome and worldly king—a king whose country is in turmoil. A king who needs the chosen one, not a failure of a princess.
And he’s not the only one who seeks her. Savage enemies seething with dark magic are hunting her. A daring, determined revolutionary thinks she could be his people’s savior. And he looks at her in a way that no man has ever looked at her before. Soon it is not just her life, but her very heart that is at stake.
Elisa could be everything to those who need her most. If the prophecy is fulfilled. If she finds the power deep within herself. If she doesn’t die young.

                                                         Most of the chosen do.

A BEAUTIFUL DARK by Jocelyn Davies - Publication Sept 27th by HarperTeen
Skye never questioned the story of her life. Her Aunt Jo adopted her after the death of her parents when she was just a child, and together they flip through memories the way some people flip through photo albums.
She never questioned if the stories were true.
Until the night of her 17th birthday, when the arrival of two strangers intrudes on her cozy life. Polar opposites, like fire and ice, Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair, cold, and aloof. Skye has no idea what they want—only that their presence coincides with the beginning of some shockingly strange events. Events that Skye, if she dares to think it, might be responsible for causing.
High up in the mountains of Boulder, Colorado, Skye finds herself caught in the middle of an ancient battle, one that began untold millennia ago. Torn between unpredictable Asher, whom she loves, and the infuriating Devin, who she can’t stay away from, her fate is murky as a starless night. And as the secrets of her true identity are revealed, Skye realizes that her destiny may reside in the Heavens—or somewhere darker.

Cover Releases and Possession Giveaways

If you are on a book site like Goodreads, or just like to stalk authors blogs, you may have noticed that two VERY important covers were released this week, The Iron Knight and The Clockwork Prince. So, without further ado, feast your eyes on the shinieness that is:

I don't know about you, but that is not how i imagined Jem (yes, that is Jem on the cover). However, i am most happy to be corrected in this case. Aren't they both gorgeous? I could not have thought up better covers myself, and believe me, i tried to guess what they would like and failed miserably with a capital 'F'.

On other news, the dystopian thriller Possession is being released next week by Simon & Schuster, and it has been getting great reviews from quite a few reknown critics.

The Description:
Vi knows the Rule: Girls don't walk with boys, and they never even think about kissing them. But no one makes Vi want to break the Rules more than Zenn...and since the Thinkers have chosen him as Vi's future match, how much trouble can one kiss cause? The Thinkers may have brainwashed the rest of the population, but Vi is determined to think for herself.

But the Thinkers are unusually persuasive, and they're set on convincing Vi to become one of them...starting by brainwashing Zenn. Vi can't leave Zenn in the Thinkers' hands, but she's wary of joining the rebellion, especially since that means teaming up with Jag. Jag is egotistical, charismatic, and dangerous--everything Zenn's not. Vi can't quite trust Jag and can't quite resist him, but she also can't give up on Zenn.

This is a game of control or be controlled. And Vi has no choice but to play.
